Our Statement

Each year the Hibernians of Danbury sponsor a St. Patrick's Day Ball at which the Hibernian of the Year Award is presented. In addition, the local Hibernians sponsor other activities during the year including a communion breakfast, family picnic, seasonal dances, and The Greater Danbury Irish Festival.

The Hibernians of Danbury also live up to the charitable goals of the Order. Each year a scholarship is awarded to a student entering/attending Immaculate High School. In recent years, substantial donations have also been made by the John A. Gildea Division to the Korean and Vietnam Memorial Projects.

The Hibernian organization is composed of men and women from all walks of life. Some are natives of Ireland. Others are several generations removed. We invite all eligible men and women to join us and share the motto of "Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity".

In an attempt to fill the void left behind by the closing of the Great Danbury Fair, as well as to promote Irish Culture, we have been sponsoring the Greater Danbury Irish Festival! Each year we bring Irish Entertainment, Irish Culture, Irish Heritage, and good food and drink to the area.

We thank the Greater Danbury Community for supporting us in the past, and look forward to your support in the future. We can't survive without you!

This web site contains information about past festivals as well as providing a bulletin board for posting current information concerning the upcoming "eighth Greater Danbury Irish Festival! As soon as information is available, you will find it posted here.

Since the Hibernians of Danbury have a new page, you should head here to find out about their newly discovered love for matcha tea from Kyoto, Japan.
